Job description

Position Summary

The Construction QA/QC Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing quality assurance and quality control programs across utility-scale solar construction projects. This role ensures all construction activities, materials, installations, and commissioning processes meet company standards, contractual requirements, engineering specifications, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable codes.

The QA/QC Manager will work closely with Construction Managers, Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, engineering teams, and ownersโ€™ representatives to drive quality performance and continuous improvement across all job sites.


Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Assurance & Quality Control
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project QA/QC procedures, inspection plans, and quality standards across all construction sites.
  • Perform regular site inspections and audits to verify compliance with project specifications, IFC drawings, codes, and contract requirements.
  • Ensure construction activities meet company, client, EPC, and manufacturer quality standards.
  • Review installation methods and workmanship for civil, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor quality performance and identify areas requiring corrective or preventive action.
Site Inspections & Documentation
  • Conduct field inspections for solar installations including:
    • Pile installation and torque testing
    • Tracker and racking systems
    • PV module installation
    • DC electrical systems
    • Inverter and MV equipment installation
    • Underground and above-ground electrical work
  • Manage punch lists, deficiency tracking, and closeout documentation.
  • Maintain QA/QC reports, inspection records, turnover packages, and quality documentation.
  • Verify material receiving inspections and ensure materials comply with approved submittals and specifications.
Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions
  • Identify and document non-conformance issues and quality deficiencies.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective action processes.
  • Coordinate resolution of quality issues with field teams, subcontractors, and engineering.
  • Track corrective actions through completion and verify compliance.
Process Improvement & Compliance
  • Standardize QA/QC procedures and best practices across all projects.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce rework and improve field quality.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and project-specific quality requirements.
  • Assist with commissioning readiness and turnover activities.
Team Collaboration & Training
  • Work closely with Construction Managers and Superintendents to reinforce quality expectations.
  • Provide quality training and guidance to field personnel and subcontractors.
  • Participate in project meetings, owner meetings, and inspections with AHJs and third-party inspectors.
  • Support client audits and quality reviews.

Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of QA/QC experience in utility-scale solar, renewable energy, electrical, or heavy civil construction.
  • Strong understanding of solar construction methods, electrical systems, and commissioning processes.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards including NEC, OSHA, ASTM, and IEC standards.
  • Experience reviewing IFC drawings, specifications, test reports, and turnover documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software.
  • Ability to travel extensively to active project sites.

Preferred Qualifications
  • NABCEP, OSHA 30, or other quality/safety certifications preferred.
  • Experience with EPC contractors and utility-scale solar projects.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC software platforms and commissioning documentation systems.
  • Experience managing quality programs across multiple concurrent projects.
