Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a QA/QC Inspector to join our Oregon/Idaho team focusing primarily on steel structures! The QA/QC Inspector is responsible for performing quality assurance and quality control inspections for construction and maintenance projects at Summit Line Construction. This role ensures that all activities meet the required quality standards, comply with industry regulations, and adhere to company policies. The QA/QC Inspector plays a critical role in maintaining safety, reliability, and efficiency in all projects through meticulous inspections, thorough documentation, and effective communication.


Essential Job Skills/Duties:

  1. Inspection and Testing
    • Conduct detailed inspections of construction components, including foundations, steel structures, electrical equipment, control wiring, and grounding systems.
    • Perform quality control testing and inspections in accordance with contract requirements and company best practices.
    • Inspect above and below-ground conduit installations for compliance with plans and specifications.
    • Verify that all materials received for the project conform to approved submittals, are handled, and stored properly, and are acceptable for use in the project.
  2. Documentation and Reporting
    • Prepare and maintain QA/QC inspection reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Create, update, and maintain the project submittal log and other project-specific quality control reports.
    • Document inspection results and quality concerns and communicate these to project stakeholders promptly.
    • Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up meetings to establish and maintain standards of care for each definable feature of work.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspection findings and test results.
    • Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing inspection activities, discrepancies identified, and corrective actions recommended.
    • Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory and company standards.
    • Review drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary.
  3. Compliance and Standards
    • Ensure that all construction and maintenance activities comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NESC, ACI) and local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Adhere to company quality control procedures and safety protocols.
    • Participate in safety audits and provide recommendations to enhance site safety.
  4. Coordination and Communication
    • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
    • Communicate inspection results and quality concerns to project stakeholders effectively.
    • Lead and participate in QA/QC meetings to review and discuss quality standards and issues.
    • Foster open communication and collaboration among team members to facilitate the timely resolution of quality concerns.
    • Assist in the development and delivery of training programs to enhance the understanding of quality standards and procedures among project teams.
    • Engage with clients to understand their quality expectations and address any concerns or requirements they may have.
  5. Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities for improving quality control processes and procedures.
    • Stay updated on the latest industry standards, technological advancements, and best practices in construction and maintenance.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives and mentor team members in QA/QC best practices.
    • Proactively seek feedback from project teams and clients to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance QA/QC knowledge and skills.
  6. Safety and Environmental Compliance
    • Ensure that all activities are performed following environmental regulations and safety standards.

Participate in safety audits and provide recommendations to enhance site safety.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Quality Management and/or related field experience.
  • Bilingual: English - Spanish preferred.
  • Experience: Preferred - 1-3 years of experience in QA/QC roles within the electrical utility industry, preferably with a focus on transmission line structures or related field experience.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as ISO9001, CQI, ISO, ICC, ACI are preferred
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical and civil engineering principles, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using inspection tools and software, and familiar with quality management systems.
  • Platforms: Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, and applicable safety software. Experience in Procore is desired.
  • Willing to travel: Throughout Oregon
  • Compliance: Must complete pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check as a condition of employment.
