Compensation often includes base salary, bonuses, and stock options, particularly in large tech companies or startups with significant funding.

What is the difference between Qa Programmer vs QA Tester?

AspectQa ProgrammerQA Tester
CredentialsTypically requires programming skills, knowledge of testing tools, and sometimes coding certificationsFocuses on testing skills, often with certifications like ISTQB, less emphasis on programming
Work EnvironmentInvolves writing automated tests, scripting, and integrating testing into development cyclesPrimarily manual testing, executing test cases, and reporting bugs
Industry UsageCommon in software development companies, especially those emphasizing automationUsed across various industries for quality assurance, often in manual testing roles

In summary, a Qa Programmer typically combines programming skills with testing responsibilities, focusing on automation and scripting. A QA Tester mainly performs manual testing to identify bugs. Both roles are essential for software quality but differ in technical requirements and daily tasks.

Will QA testing be replaced by AI?

QA programmers perform testing to identify software defects, and AI tools are increasingly used to automate repetitive testing tasks, improve efficiency, and analyze large data sets. However, human oversight remains essential for designing test cases, interpreting complex issues, and ensuring quality standards are met, so AI is a supplement rather than a complete replacement for QA testing roles.

What does a QA developer do?

A QA developer designs, develops, and executes automated and manual tests to ensure software quality. They identify bugs, improve testing processes, and work closely with developers to resolve issues, often using tools like Selenium or JUnit. Strong programming skills and attention to detail are essential for this role.

Is QA still in demand?

Quality Assurance (QA) programmers are still in demand as software development continues to grow, with companies seeking skilled testers to ensure product quality. Knowledge of testing tools, scripting, and automation can enhance job prospects in this field.

Job description

Role: QA Engineer

Location: Hybrid / Remote / Flexible
Reports To: QA Manager
Job Type: Full-Time

The QA Engineer works closely with business stakeholders, product specialists, QA leadership, and software engineers to understand requirements, develop test plans, execute functional and regression tests, and identify defects before release. In this role, you will also have the opportunity to design and implement a test automation framework that will be used by other QA engineers as the QA team grows.

What Youโ€™ll Be Doing:

  • Work with business stakeholders, product specialists, and software engineers to understand business processes and software functionality.
  • Analyze requirements and user stories to identify comprehensive test scenarios.
  • Create test plans based on requirements, user stories, and existing application functionality.
  • Write functional, system, integration, and regression tests using a test management platform.
  • Create, organize, and execute test sets in the test management system to ensure full coverage based on release parameters.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using a defect tracking system, and work with software engineers to ensure timely resolution.
  • Develop and maintain an automated test framework and test scripts to increase test coverage and release confidence.
  • Identify ways to incorporate AI into the QA process to enhance efficiency, test coverage, and defect detection.
  • Collaborate with the QA manager and other stakeholders to implement and improve QA processes.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

What You Bring:

  • 3+ years of manual QA and test automation experience.
  • Experience with test management systems such as Quality Center, Tuskr, SpiraTest, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to investigate possible causes of a defect before submitting it.
  • Strong test automation skills using tools such as Playwright, Selenium, or similar frameworks.
  • Strong technical testing skills, including API testing, SQL query authoring, error log analysis, and the ability to hold technical conversations with software engineers.
  • Google Cloud and Django experience is a plus.
