Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for leading and maintaining all food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance programs within the Customer Service Center (CSC). This role ensures that all products are produced, handled, and distributed in accordance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable food safety regulations. The role oversees the implementation, monitoring, verification, and continuous improvement of food safety and quality management systems, while fostering a strong culture of food safety throughout the operations within the facility.

The Quality Assurance Supervisor manages the facility’s preventive food safety programs, including HACCP, prerequisite programs, sanitation, allergen management, traceability, recall readiness, policies, standard operating procedures, and associated documentation. The position also provides training, guidance, and support to operational teams to ensure compliance, drive continuous improvement, and deliver safe, high-quality products to airline customers and passengers.

  • Work location: onsite @ our SkyChefs facility near George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)
  • Work schedule: Monday - Friday or Wednesday-Sunday. Will work rotating weekends.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, customer, and company food safety and quality standards.
  • Monitor, verify, and maintain food safety programs, including HACCP, CCPs, PRPs, allergen controls, sanitation, and traceability requirements.
  • Conduct routine inspections, audits, quality checks, and food safety testing to ensure operational compliance.
  • Maintain accurate food safety records, reports, and documentation within company systems.
  • Support internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, investigations, and corrective action plans.
  • Provide food safety and quality training to employees and promote a strong food safety culture.
  • Collaborate with Operations and other departments to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop Quality Assurance and Food Safety team members to achieve departmental goals.
  • Manage staffing, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management activities.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Support key company initiatives, including HACCP, GQS, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, customers, auditors, and leadership.
  • Monitor departmental performance, manage resources effectively, and support budget and cost-control objectives.
What We Look for in a Candidate
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Certification as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and/or Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) professional preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or a related food manufacturing environment, including leading and managing employees.
  • Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP principles, and FDA and USDA regulations.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills with the ability to drive results.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to coach, motivate, and develop team members while fostering a collaborative and respectful workplace culture.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and technology tools, including scanners, tablets, printers, copiers, and cloud-based systems.
  • Ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships and communicate effectively with employees, customers, auditors, and management.
