Description

Markon looking for an experienced mid-level quality assurance inspector with extensive expertise in the construction industry to provide Owner's Representative construction management services to a DoW client.

Responsibilities
  • Provides quality assurance inspections as part of the Quality Assurance program.
  • Possesses working knowledge in their field and in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) 3-Phases of Control.
  • Proactively assists the Government in conducting site evaluations, field surveys, and site visits to determine constructability and code compliance.  Assists estimators and project managers in the planning and estimating of future construction projects.
  • Will be responsible for insuring construction contractor implements effective Quality Management processes to control and deliver quality work that complies with project design, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Must have the knowledge, training, and/or experience to define, research, understand, and recognize quality construction work in structural concrete, foundation bearing soils preparation, mechanical systems, and interior finishes.
  • Ability to research design specifications, codes, drawings, product information, etc. to be prepared for inspections and preparatory meetings.
  • Must have the personality and interpersonal skills to work respectfully and communicate confidently with construction contractors about the practical mechanics of construction trades.
  • Must be able to write and prepare daily QA reports to document field observations, take effective pictures, and use computer/IPad technologies.  Regularly prepares and presents project status briefings, develops and maintains performance matrixes, prepares well-written technical reports.  Prepares written and oral reports to Government leadership and program managers. 
  • Position requires primarily work in the field, exposed to various weather conditions, and the ability to traverse unimproved terrain.
  • Must be willing to work 25% of time outside normal duty hours to include during nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to observe contractor work.  Overtime may be required on specific projects.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of an Integrated Project Team to deliver for the client as the Owner's Representative.
Qualifications
  • BS in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management with 10+ years of construction experienceor 15+ years of relevant construction management technical experience with a current U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) or U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Construction Quality Management for Contractors certification.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain a Public Trust clearance (HSPD-12 fingerprint background check). 

Preferred:   Pentagon WHS experience is highly sought after.
