Job description

Job Summary
This position is responsible for the Quality Assurance process performed on the production floor. The quality technician will verify different aspects of the production process. Verified steps include but are not limited to area, ingredient, inspection, cell, and finished product release. Trains Production and Quality Assurance personnel on GMPs and quality procedures.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive)
  • Release of production area by verifying starting components, equipment cleanliness, and room cleanliness.
  • Review of Batch Production Record (BPR) for completeness prior to manufacturing.
  • Inspection of nutrient blends during processing.
  • Final inspection of product, which includes BPR review for completeness, label check, weight check, and visual inspection of final product.
  • Perform release function on untested blends.
  • Perform weekly retain sample inventory rotation and data management.
  • Assist QA with positive release retain and contract lab sampling.
  • Inspect various incoming product's Certificate of Analysis (COA), enter data, and report discrepancies.
  • Assist QA management to identify, document, and control non-conforming materials (MDR).
  • Assist with document control, in the review of quality documents such as BPR's, Corrective Action Reports (CAR), HACCP reports, and quality surveys.
  • Report pest concerns to QA management immediately.
  • Assist Environmental Monitoring Technician with environmental swabbing, water samples, etc.
  • Perform monthly GMP inspections and CAR's for the warehouse and manufacturing areas.
  • Participates in continuous improvement. Create and revise standard operating procedures and forms related to the Quality Assurance function.
  • Train Production and Quality Assurance personnel on GMPs and quality procedures when requested.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

Qualification & Experience Requirements
Education, Training:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required. Some College and/or trade school education is preferred.

Experience Required:
  • Minimum 2 years in a related role is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while remaining productive at all times
  • Ability to stay positive and calm in difficult and/or trying circumstances
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel with the utmost professionalism
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Must have excellent problem solving skills
  • Must be able to follow written SOP's / work instructions
