Job description

Registered Nurse

This is a position in an inpatient rehabilitation unit. The facility has a Level III Trauma Center designation. It is a Magnet-designated facility. The center specializes in stroke care and is a comprehensive stroke center. The unit consists of 45 beds dedicated to inpatient rehabilitation. It is accredited and certified in stroke rehabilitation. Patient types include those with physical medicine rehabilitation needs, such as stroke, neuro, TBI, MS, Parkinson's, LVAD, oncology, trachs, and transplant cases. The patient-to-nurse ratio for days is 1:4-5 and for nights is 1:6-7. Support staff includes a charge nurse who may also have a patient assignment. The hospitalist, respiratory therapy, and phlebotomy services are available 24/7. The charting system used is preferred to be EPIC, along with Alaris and Pyxis systems. Lifts available include Hoyer lifts, ceiling lifts, and sit-to-stand lifts. Travelers will float to all other MedSurg areas if needed. Orientation will involve an 8-hour session. Weekend rotation is required every third weekend as needed. Requests for time off must be approved through nursing management. Every other holiday may be required based on need. Staff cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts. Scrub color is flexible, but camouflage or denim is not permitted. Appearance guidelines will be provided during orientation.
