Job description

DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, will perform a full range of duties at the UCSD McGrath Outpatient Pavilion. Assists the pharmacist in the preparation of medications (including antineoplastics/chemotherapy) for patient use for IV sterile compounding preparation & administration in accordance to established procedures under USP<797/USP 800, assist in the distributions of medications via Pyxis Med Station and A Stations; maintains skills applicable to all information systems within the pharmacy, maintain inventory levels; and perform other duties as assigned. Will perform assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and will assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in the assigned area.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).

  • Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.

  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant Pharmacy experience.

  • Experience in project management/system responsibility (e.g. Pyxis, narcotic control, QI, or pharmacy buyer/biller/analyst); OR is a Pharmacy School graduate; OR expanded responsibilities over several areas OR possess a Pharmacy Intern License.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two - five (2 - 5) years of previous IV and Chemo experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Pharmacy terminology and calculations.

  • Proficient computer experience and accurate data entry skills.

  • Strong detail and organizational skills to sort, file and retrieve information.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.

  • Ability to work in a self-directed work team environment and function effectively in a high-volume, multiple demand environments.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Hours are variable (8 to 10 hours shifts) including weekends and rotating holidays (up to every other), coverage for sick calls and vacation.

  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on business needs.

  • Must be willing to rotate to all pharmacy areas/sites.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $71,848 - $89,304 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $34.41 - $42.77

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
