Job description

Position Overview

The Automation Engineer integrates and manages an automation platform (Vault, Terraform, Ansible) to support the AECC infrastructure. This role focuses on developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines to automate the deployment, configuration, and management of Kubernetes-based containerized solutions for the US Army.

Mandatory Certifications

  • Baseline: Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II
  • Computing Environment: Must obtain an industry certification (DevOps, Automation, or Kubernetes) within 6 months

Key Responsibilities

  • Framework Development: Develop and maintain the automation and DevSecOps framework supporting the AECC environment.
  • IaC Pipeline Management: Maintain pipelines for automated network configurations, server deployments, and software provisioning.
  • System Lifecycle: Automate the installation and ongoing management of infrastructure components to ensure a desired persistent state.
  • Troubleshooting: Perform troubleshooting across Kubernetes clusters, containerized applications, and automation frameworks.

Required Technical Skills

  • Tool Proficiency: Expertise in Terraform, Vault, Ansible, and GitLab.
  • Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Scripting: Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Ansible Expertise: Experience writing Ansible playbooks for enterprise tasks and structuring them into roles.
  • DoD Security: Knowledge of DoD STIGs and industry hardening best practices.
