What You Will Contribute to OHM Advisors 

As a highly talented GIS Specialist, you will be faced with challenging GIS projects in the fields of Engineering, Planning, Architecture, and Water Resources. The individual must be able to demonstrate established knowledge in field data collection, GIS principles, cartography, and / or geospatial data management. As a trusted member of OHM Advisors’ GIS Group, you will join a growing, mission-driven team of innovative thinkers who collaborate daily, using our combined experience and talents to continually advance the communities we serve.

Your Responsibilities 

  • With guidance from our GIS team, assist them in updating various GIS databases for utility management and develop high quality mapping products, while utilizing ArcGIS Pro.
  • With guidance from our GIS field data collection experts, assist them in field data collection utilizing high precision GNSS receivers paired with ArcGIS Online field applications.
  • Assist with the Design & Development of various GIS database schema.
  • Design and configure ArcGIS Field Maps, Web Map Applications, and Dashboards.
  • Ability to interpret, georeference & digitize utility construction plans.
  • Utilize ArcGIS Pro & ArcGIS Online to support various project tasks.
  • Become familiar and keep current with data collection & asset management concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Attend project & professional development meetings.
  • Assist in ongoing maintenance of GIS Department field equipment.
  • Ability to take detailed project notes and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Projecting the company in a positive manner to all members of the public.
  • Potentially assist in underground utility investigation, data collection, and processing using Pipe and Cable Utility Locators and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR).
  • Potentially assist in Drone Imagery capture and processing. Opportunity to become an FAA Certified Part 107 Drone Pilot.

    Requirements  

    • Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or related field. A focus on GIS is preferred.
    • 1-2 years' experience in GIS is desired but not required.
    • Experience in AutoCAD is desired but not required.
    • Experience with Esri ArcGIS Software (Pro, Online) and Mobile Mapping Applications (Field Maps, Survey 123) is required.
    • Knowledge of GPS/GNSS technology.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from office.

    • Proficiency in Python and/or Arcade programming language is desired but not required.
    • Understanding of ArcGIS Enterprise Database structure.
    • Experience in generating map products and an understanding of cartographic principles.
    • Excellent communication and organization skills with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
    • Team-oriented mindset with strong listening and collaboration skills.
    • Desire to learn new technologies & methodologies in the GIS field.
    • Attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
    • General knowledge of customer service principles and safe work methods.
    • Local applicants from Michigan are preferred.
