Both roles are vital in educational settings but differ in responsibilities and experience levels.

What jobs can I get if I only know Python?

With Python skills, you can pursue roles such as Python developer, data analyst, automation engineer, or QA tester. These jobs often require knowledge of libraries like pandas or frameworks like Django and may involve working in software development, data analysis, or automation environments.

What are Python Teaching Assistants?

Python Teaching Assistants are individuals who support instructors and students in Python programming courses. They help explain programming concepts, answer questions, assist with assignments, and sometimes lead lab sessions or tutorials. Their goal is to ensure students understand Python fundamentals, debug code, and provide guidance throughout the learning process. Python Teaching Assistants may work in academic settings, coding bootcamps, or online education platforms.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Python Teaching Assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Python Teaching Assistant, you need a solid understanding of Python programming, foundational computer science concepts, and typically some experience in teaching or tutoring. Familiarity with educational tools such as Jupyter Notebooks, online learning platforms, and version control systems like Git is often required. Exceptional communication, patience, and the ability to break down complex topics into simple explanations help you stand out in this role. These skills are critical for effectively supporting students, facilitating learning, and ensuring a positive educational experience.

How do I get a job in Python with no experience?

To get a Python Teaching Assistant position with no experience, focus on building foundational Python skills through online courses, tutorials, and practice projects. Gaining familiarity with common libraries and tools, such as Jupyter Notebook or Git, can also help demonstrate your readiness. Volunteering to assist in coding workshops or contributing to open-source projects can further strengthen your application.

Is Python still in demand?

Python is currently in high demand for roles such as Python Teaching Assistant and software development positions. Its versatility, widespread use in data science, machine learning, and web development, along with a strong community and extensive libraries, contribute to ongoing job opportunities for Python professionals.

What are some common challenges faced by a Python Teaching Assistant when supporting students in a classroom or online environment?

As a Python Teaching Assistant, one common challenge is addressing the varying skill levels among students, which requires adapting explanations and assistance to meet individual needs. Managing group discussions and troubleshooting coding errors in real time can be demanding, especially in larger classes or remote settings. Additionally, staying up-to-date with the latest Python developments and tools ensures you can provide accurate guidance. Collaborating closely with lead instructors and other teaching staff is essential to deliver consistent support and enhance the overall learning experience.

Job description

Hours: Full-time

Location: Molg HQ in Chantilly, VA (Northern Virginia)

Salary: Competitive compensation, including salary, equity, and full healthcare benefits

OUR MISSION

Tackle the fast growing e-waste problem by making electronics manufacturing circular.

Molg builds robotics microfactories and software to autonomously assemble and disassemble complex electronic products like laptop PCs, servers, and battery packs. Working with some of the leading computer + server manufacturers as well as industrial companies like Stanley Black and Decker, we are building the circular manufacturing technology to recover existing in-market devices for reuse and recycling as well as helping develop the next generation of circular-focused devices at the design level.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

Work with a talented cross-functional team of software, mechanical, electrical, and robotics engineers to develop our core technologies in robotics, assembly intelligence, computer vision, and microfactories. As a Senior Robotics Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering high-quality, testable code for built/integrated robotic hardware (i.e. microfactories)

  • Building core CAD to robotic motion and grasp planning workflow software (i.e. assembly intelligence)

  • Developing and expanding advance simulation and motion planning capabilities

  • Collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers on end-of-arm tooling, fixturing, vision systems, and control systems

  • Contribute to overall product roadmap and assist with prioritization of workload

WHO YOU ARE:

  • 3+ years of industry experience in robotics

  • Experienced in modern software development (e.g. python, ROS, github, docker, etc)

  • Enjoy writing end-to-end robotics applications or have built/integrated robotic hardware in industry

  • Have implemented and shipped software for robot functionalities

  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently both verbally and in writing

WHO WE ARE:

We spend our days building robotic systems, developing complex assembly intelligence software, and designing the next generation of circular products for our customers. Given the importance of working hands-on with physical systems, we are a 100% in-person team collaboratively working in our industrial space in Chantilly, VA, down the road from the largest data center market in the world.  Our facility includes a variety of robots, CNC milling machines, 3D printers, and all the tools needed to build and test our products. It is important to us that anyone on our team that is interested in learning how to use our various pieces of equipment and machinery is taught and can gain the skills and appreciation for making physical things.

While we are primarily funded by our work with Fortune 100 companies, we are also supported by amazing backers like Elemental Excelerator and Techstars.

THINGS TO KNOW:

  • We’re a small collaborative team with big ambitions, and there’s a good amount of context-switching. We expect people to be autonomous and drive their own work to completion.

  • We are a profitable business that is primarily funded from customer revenue, which means we are scrappy and looking to build a great sustainable company for years to come.

  • As a growing company and startup, priorities may shift as customer or business requirements change. We strive to empower individuals with context and decision-making power to meet this need.
