Job description

The Systems Software Developer 5 will serve as a technical leader and innovator in our organization. As a Principal Software Developer, you will involve shaping the architecture, driving technical strategy, and delivering complex, high-impact solutions that align with our business goals. In addition, you will act as a mentor to Systems Software teams, collaborate with stakeholders across disciplines, and ensure the delivery of scalable, secure, and reliable software systems.
Position Responsibilities may include:
• Drive technical decision-making, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and design, to define product specification and deliver high-quality solution
• Collaborate with internal team members and ensure to meet product deadlines
• Identify, prioritize and execute tasks in the software development lifecycle
• Review and debug code
• Determine best method for accomplishing project and achieving objectives
• Work on complex problems/projects where require strong data analytic and troubleshooting skills
• Lead multiple projects requiring software development.
• Being the subject matter expert for either web development, or mobile app development, or backend development.
• Mentor and coach engineers at all levels, fostering technical growth and innovation.
• Serve as an advisor for engineering team, fostering skill development and collaboration.
• Ensure the scalability, security, and reliability of IoT systems in production environments.
• Conduct performance reviews, code audits, and troubleshoot complex system-level issues
• Deep understanding of cybersecurity practices for IoT systems and data privacy.
• Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.

• Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends process, product or service improvements
• Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business
• Contributes to the development of functional strategy
• Leads teams or projects with broad visibility to achieve milestones and objectives
• Typically operates with broad latitude in a complex environment
Knowledge & Skills:
• Proven experience in working technologies like JavaScript, react native, react JS, Node JS, Python, HTML, CSS
• Proven experience and track record in maintaining and growing web or mobile applications which includes updating APIs and creating new APIs as needed
• Ability to take ownership and identify the goals and dedicate yourself to delivering on the commitments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A positive mindset and can-do attitude
• Proven experience and track record in creating and maintaining continuous integration and delivery of web or mobile applications
• Deep knowledge of cloud platforms, DevOps practices, and modern software development frameworks.
• Proven experience in consumer facing IoT and smart connected products with at least 500K users.
Experience:
• 12-15 years of proven experience in web and mobile app development
• HVAC residential thermostat algorithm development and implementation is a plus
• Evidence of career progression
Education/Certification:
• Bachelor's degree in CS, IS or Engineering with relevant course work OR additional applicable work experience and multiple advanced technical certifications in programming languages or software design may be considered in lieu of a degree

Reports To: Manager, Systems Software
Salary: $132,540.00 to $165,705.00
