Job description

Lead Software Design Engineer For Wireless Radio Network Planning Simulation Tool

As a highly valued member of the team, you will contribute to design, development, and testing of a simulation tool for wireless radio network planning. Acting in the capacity of lead software design engineer, you will:

  • Analyze requirements to define tool components and interfaces
  • Implement required tool features

Responsibilities:

  • You will be working within a wireless technology group to develop a simulation tool for wireless radio network planning. This will entail the following:
    • Analyzing requirements to define tool components and interfaces
    • Implementing required features of the tool

Qualifications:

  • Must have:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent field, at least 5+ years of related work experience
    • A proven track record of building complex software systems in Python and associated frameworks (e.g. Numpy, Pandas, Geopandas)
    • Working knowledge of:
      • GIS-based systems and associated tools (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS)
      • GIS-related packages, e.g. PyGIS, postGIS, GDAL
      • Linux OS, e.g. Ubuntu
      • Database systems, e.g. SQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL
      • Version control systems, e.g. Git, Jira
    • Understanding of the following is desirable:
      • Wireless radio network planning using tools, e.g. Atoll, Planet
      • Wireless communication systems, e.g. LTE, NR, WLAN
      • Massively parallel and distributed computing frameworks (e.g. Python-based Dask)
      • Cloud-based toolkits (e.g. AWS)
      • AWS-based developer tools/systems
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills
    • Collaborative team work

    Required Skills: • 3+ years software engineering, preferably all or mostly in Python and python libraries (Numpy, pandas, geopandas, etc) • Working knowledge of GIS systems (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc) • Knowledge of GIS based tools (pyGIS, postGIS, GDAL) • Knows enough to be dangerous in a common database.
