Job description

Hill International is seeking a Cost Specialist in Pomona, California

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, data science, or business, or a combination of education, training, and experience, equivalent to a 4-year college
  • 5+ years' experience in cost controls / management required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, Intermediate MS Excel, knowledge of python programing and basic understanding of MS Access.
  • Expert knowledge of MS Excel, Intermediate level knowledge of Python programming for risk analysis reporting, cluster analysis, and predictive analytics, knowledge of Power BI, and Microsoft Access.
  • Utility construction / project management experience preferred.
  • Must be local to Southern California, Hybrid work schedule.

The salary range for this position is $105,000-$110,000. The offered salary will be based on the applicants qualifications, education, experience and work location.

  • Download financial data from various sources (SAP, SharePoint, Excel files) to prepare forecast reports. (approximately 1200+ records)
  • Prepare/review /update project budgets/baselines, short- and long-term forecasts, and expenditure plans for electrical substation construction projects.
  • Develop routine reports to assist in cost monitoring and management.
  • Meet with Project Managers and review the project scope, timelines, forecast costs, including budgets, actuals, and commitments.
  • Assist Project managers in reviewing and reporting cost over/underruns versus approved budget/forecast.
  • Conduct cost assessments and risk assessments and provide variance explanations for changes in project scope, materials, schedule.
  • Update change management tool based on impact analysis.
  • Prepare and present the monthly financial summary for a portfolio of over 50 projects to project management leadership.
  • Provide risk analysis reports for various construction programs.
