If you love solving puzzles, building new things, fixing whatโ€™s broken, or pushing the boundaries of creativity, we encourage you to explore the details of this position below!

UNCOMN is seeking a Data Engineer 1-2 (Junior/Associate) to:
  • Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines and integrations using SQL, Python, Databricks, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Build and maintain ETL/ELT workflows, data models, and data products supporting operational and analytical requirements.
  • Develop and support solutions within Maven Smart Systems (Palantir Foundry), Advana, and Qlik to deliver actionable insights and reporting capabilities.
  • Integrate and transform data from multiple structured and unstructured sources.
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and mission stakeholders to translate operational requirements into technical solutions.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve data pipeline performance, reliability, and data quality.
  • Implement data governance, security controls, testing, and documentation best practices.
  • Support agile development activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical support for operational events, exercises, and mission-focused activities as needed.
This position description outlines the core duties for this role, but it is not all-inclusive. Responsibilities may shift based on contract requirements, mission needs, or organizational objectives.
Requirements
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance, granted by the US Government, which requires US citizenship. The government also uses 13 adjudicative guidelines to determine an individual's eligibility.
  • 2+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, software development, data integration, or a related technical field.
  • Experience developing data pipelines and workflows using SQL and Python.
  • Experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, or similar large-scale data processing platforms.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.
  • Must be comfortable and willing to satisfy applicable Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) certification and qualification requirements associated with this position.
Preferred
  • Active Secret clearance or higher.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience supporting DoD, federal, or mission-critical operational environments.
  • Hands-on experience with modern data platforms and tools such as Advana, Palantir Foundry, Databricks, Apache Spark/PySpark, Delta Lake, Qlik, Git, APIs, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GovCloud).
  • Experience developing data pipelines, analytics solutions, operational dashboards, executive reporting, and decision-support tools.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, Agile methodologies, data governance, and machine learning or predictive analytics concepts.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering, technical documentation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Why UNCOMN?
