What you can expect in this roleย ย 

As a Spectrum intern, youโ€™ll spend the summer working alongside two teams: your respective department and your intern cohort.

Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. Youโ€™ll spend the other 20% on internship experiences that include a kickoff conference, professional development sessions and networking activities, webinars, community service, cross-functional projects and final presentations.

This experience is designed to help you explore your interests, expand your network and leave with a deeper understanding of both your field and the impact of our business.

Internship responsibilities may include:

  • The AVVOC Video Delivery Core Operations team is currently responsible for managing 26,654 devices to support the Acquisition, Encoding, Video Transport, Switched Digital Video, Distributed Access Architecture, Edge QAM RF, Video Monitoring, CDN, STVA Video Packaging. The Associate Systems Engineer - Video intern will work on assisting IP video solutions, specifically Cloud DVR (cDVR) and our IP video network (CDN). This intern will be exposed to advanced system-level engineers operating with CDN utilizing Linux administration, virtualization, Python scripting, monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Splunk, Python/BASH agent, AI-assisted tooling, self-healing initiatives, and networking expertise. These capabilities are essential for the effective day-to-day management and troubleshooting of our platforms.
  • Assisting and learning alongside advanced system-level engineers to facilitate operational help with Linux administration, virtualization, Python scripting, monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Splunk, Python/BASH agent, AI-assisted tooling, self-healing initiatives, and networking expertise. These capabilities are essential for the effective day-to-day management and troubleshooting of our platforms. The intern will work with engineers to ensure that both the cDVR and CDN infrastructures operate at peak performance, delivering the highest quality service to our customers.

Required qualifications

  • Must be a rising senior with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College or University completing a bachelorโ€™s degree
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program
  • Ability to travel locally to Spectrum intern development events and activities throughout the program
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix system administration, cloud systems, basic IP knowledge (TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, or another routing fundamental), familiarity with command-line tools and basic shell scripting
