DevSecOps Engineer

The Position:
Etegent is seeking a Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) Engineer to help maintain and sustain software, services, and development environments on large-scale computing systems to benefit our Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) customers. This opportunity will involve integration of code enhancements, optimizations, and bug fixes in various cloud architecture environments, along with the documentation of these efforts. This position is primarily on-site at government facilities at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, along with some time in our Dayton office.
The ideal candidate will have experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle, be detail oriented, and have a passion for creating software solutions to enhance the capabilities of others. Experience working on-site to support either AFRL or NASIC is preferable.

Job responsibilities:
  • Writing efficient, modular, and well-documented code.
  • Creation and maintenance of a Git-based software deployment system, including Docker containerization and Helm chart deployment to Kubernetes systems.
  • Development of a Gitlab-based continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD) system.
  • Performing Kubernetes cloud deployments.
  • Monitoring software deployments to identify and remedy issues.
  • Participation in Agile development processes.
  • Collaboration across a sizable team and communication with other developers.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, software engineering, or computer-related engineering field.
  • We are open to new graduates or varying levels of professional software engineering experience.
  • Previous experience in software engineering.
  • Experience with object-oriented software development and unit testing tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with Linux OS.
  • Experience with some relevant infrastructure management tools (e.g. Argo CD, Terraform, Kubectl) or monitoring tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch, Open Telemetry).
  • Experience working with relational SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning and capacity experience in a hands-on environment.
  • Current, active Top Secret security clearance and ability to maintain on an ongoing basis and pass SCI adjudication.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Security+ certification.
  • Master's degree in computer science, IT, software engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
  • Experience with NFS file systems.
  • Knowledge of Python, and common data science / ML packages (e.g., NumPy, PyTorch).
  • Experience analyzing user requirements and translating to technical designs.
  • Ability to understand the requirements of designing or transitioning software in a production environment.
  • Experience with web development and common frameworks (e.g., React, TypeScript).
  • OpenGL, QT framework, and Web Services experience.
  • Experience scaling algorithms for high performance environments (Cloud/DSRC).
  • Active SCI adjudication.
