Position Overview:
The Network Optimization Analyst is responsible for extracting, analyzing, and interpreting complex datasets to drive actionable insights and support strategic decision-making across various business units, including supply chain, operations, etc. This role will design and develop dashboards, perform deep-dive analyses such as cost analysis and center of gravity studies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize performance and efficiency.
Purpose of Job:
The Network Optimization Analyst is responsible for extracting, analyzing, and interpreting complex datasets to drive actionable insights and support strategic decision-making across various business units, including supply chain, operations, etc. This role will design and develop dashboards, perform deep-dive analyses such as cost analysis and center of gravity studies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize performance and efficiency.
Job Components:
Territory Optimization:
  • Analyze and optimize delivery territories, including center of gravity studies, to improve service levels, reduce costs, and support operational efficiency across regional and national networks.

Cost Modeling:
  • Develop and maintain models to evaluate end-to-end supply chain costs, including warehousing, transportation, labor, and inventory holding costs.

Network Design & Optimization:
  • Perform scenario analyses to recommend optimal distribution center locations, routing strategies, and inventory placement; experience with network optimization tools (e.g., Descartes, Llamasoft, or similar) is a plus

Data Analysis & Simulation:
  • Work with large datasets to simulate network changes and assess the financial and operational impact of proposed changes.

Scenario Planning & Sensitivity Analysis:
  • Perform what-if analyses to assess the impact of demand fluctuations, capacity constraints, and strategic initiatives on network performance.

Process Improvement & Standardization:
  • Identify opportunities to streamline analytical processes, develop standardized reporting templates, and improve data accuracy and accessibility across the organization.

Performance Monitoring:
  • Continuously track and evaluate the performance of network strategies using key metrics and operational data to identify improvement opportunities, ensure alignment with business objectives, and drive ongoing optimization initiatives.

Stakeholder Communication:
  • Translate complex data outputs into clear, concise presentations and visualizations for cross-functional teams, including supply chain leadership, operations, and finance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with transportation, warehouse operations, IT, and business intelligence teams to gather data, validate assumptions, and align recommendations with strategic goals.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business Analytics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in data analytics or business intelligence role, preferably in supply chain, logistics, or operations.
  • Exposure to spatial or network optimization tools (e.g., ArcGIS, Descartes, Llamasoft) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Power BI and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and relational databases.
  • Experience using Tableau or other BI tools for data visualization.
  • Experience with SQL for querying and data extraction.
  • Working knowledge of Python for data processing and modeling.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective communicator with ability to simplify complex findings for varied audiences.
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset and attention to detail.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
