If you're a hands-on hydrogeologist who loves solving complex subsurface puzzles-and wants to work alongside some of the world's best technical experts-this is your next big move.

Why This Role Matters

Our clients depend on ERM to help them understand groundwater systems, model environmental risks, and make informed decisions that protect communities, natural resources, and critical infrastructure. As a Managing Consultant, Scientist (Hydrogeology) with groundwater modeling expertise, you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, defensible technical work that shapes sustainable outcomes across industries including mining, water supply, energy, and manufacturing.

This role blends technical depth, project influence, and collaboration with subject matter leaders-giving you the opportunity to advance both your expertise and your career.

What Your Impact Is

  • Drive forward environmental and water resource projects by contributing high-level hydrogeologic and modeling insights.

  • Lead the development and interpretation of 3D geological and groundwater flow models that guide decision-making.

  • Bring clarity to complex systems through compelling data visualization, analytical tools, and well-crafted technical deliverables.

  • Support field operations and testing programs that form the foundation of accurate conceptual site models.

  • Strengthen ERM's technical excellence through collaboration with global experts and the application of advanced modeling methods.

What You'll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology or Geology.

  • 4+ years of hydrogeology experience, including groundwater modeling.

  • Hands-on experience with MODFLOW/MT3D and newer platforms such as MODFLOW-USG or MODFLOW 6.

  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills; ability to produce high-quality technical reports.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced consulting environment.

  • Commitment to safety and adherence to established Health & Safety protocols.

  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Preferred

  • Experience programmatically managing modeling data using languages such as Fortran, Python, or R.

  • Background using data analytics or visualization tools.

  • Experience with Leapfrog or similar 3D geological modeling tools.

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred, not required).

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as an integral team member supporting diverse environmental, remediation, and water resource projects.

  • Develop and refine 3D geologic and hydrogeologic conceptual models using tools such as Leapfrog.

  • Perform hydrogeologic evaluations including capture zone analyses, pumping test interpretation, and groundwater-surface water interaction assessments.

  • Plan, participate in, and/or oversee field programs such as hydraulic testing, well installation, drilling oversight, sample collection, and preparation of logs and cross-sections.

  • Prepare work plans, technical reports, and modeling deliverables for internal teams and clients.

  • Collaborate with GIS specialists to generate high-quality maps and visualizations.

  • Present data and findings using modern visualization and analytics tools.

  • Meet quality, budget, and scheduling expectations while managing scope-specific tasks effectively.
