Their responsibilities often include writing clean and efficient code, debugging and troubleshooting issues, collaborating with team members through online tools, and integrating third-party services or APIs. Remote Python developers may work on web applications, data analysis, automation scripts, or back-end systems, depending on the employer's needs. They must also manage their time effectively and communicate clearly to succeed in a distributed team setting.

What are some common challenges faced by remote Python Developers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Python Developers often face challenges related to communication, collaboration, and staying aligned with team goals due to physical distance. To address these issues, it's important to establish clear communication channels, actively participate in daily stand-ups or sync meetings, and utilize project management tools. Regular code reviews and pair programming sessions can also help maintain code quality and foster teamwork. Additionally, setting up a dedicated and distraction-free workspace at home can significantly boost productivity.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Python Developer (Remote), and why are they important?

Job description

Senior Software Engineer - Infrastructure

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Infrastructure team, you will be an early contributor to the growing team to support a rapidly expanding fleet of satellites.ย

Speed and reliability aren't luxuries here; they're lifelines. When a satellite is orbiting thousands of miles above Earth, minutes matter. Our developers need to iterate and deploy rapidly to fix mission-critical issues and push improvements that keep spacecraft healthy and missions on track. You'll be the one making sure our CI pipelines aren't just efficient, but blazing fast, so our engineers can respond to the unexpected in real time. You'll own every aspect of the development workflow including AI assistant tools, language upgrades, build systems, pre-commit checks, and emerging projects to help unlock developer velocity.ย

If you're excited by the idea of supporting spacecraft with infrastructure that's as mission-critical as the satellites themselves, this is your launchpad.

This role supports both commercial and U.S. Government programs.

Role
  • Maintain and streamline a CI pipeline integrating with a mix of real and simulated hardware
  • Introduce and optimize build tools and workflows to accelerate development
  • Automate release, deployment, and monitoring tooling for development and production systems
  • Implement and own the proliferation of metrics and performance tracking in development, CI, production, and mission contexts
  • Lead initiatives that improve developer productivity and developer experience
Requirements
  • 6+ years experience in Infrastructure and DevOps engineering
  • Bachelor of Science in a related discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Information Technology)
  • Proficiency with Python or other scripting language
  • Experience with scaling build systems such as, but not limited to: Bazel, CMake, or Pants
  • Strong Experience with Linux
  • Experience working with CI tools such as Gitlab, Github, Jenkins, Tekton or others
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Highly motivated, self-starting, and able to perform duties autonomously without much supervision
Bonus
  • Bazel build system
  • Code coverage reporting
  • AI tooling for developers
  • Remote development environments
  • Flaky test management and infrastructure
