Innovation and Prototyping Intern

Location: Montréal (QC)

Duration: 8–16 months (for co‑ops)

About the Opportunity

Ericsson is seeking AI Engineers to join our growing BCSS Architecture and Technology team in Montreal. In this role you will evolve and optimize our data and data‑pipeline architecture, support cross‑functional teams, and build systems that enable rapid, secure data delivery across multiple data centers.

What You Will Do
  • Design, build, and maintain optimal data and model operations pipeline architecture
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non‑functional business requirements
  • Identify, design, and implement process improvements: automate manual workflows, optimize data delivery, and redesign infrastructure for greater scalability
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and cloud‑based technologies
  • Work with stakeholders—including executive, product, data, and design teams—to resolve technical data issues and support their infrastructure needs
  • Maintain data separation and security across national boundaries through multiple data centers
  • Create tool‑chains that help analytics and data science teams build and validate models
  • Collaborate with data and machine‑learning experts to enhance our life‑cycle management systems for data and models
  • Support data‑operations competence building within Ericsson business and customer‑service units
What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Informatics, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Telecommunications knowledge (radio and core networks) – mandatory
  • Experience with big‑data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka
  • Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and Cassandra
  • Experience with data‑pipeline and workflow management tools: Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, Dataiku
  • Experience with stream‑processing systems: Storm, Spark‑Streaming
  • Experience with object‑oriented scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, Golang, Erlang
  • Advanced SQL knowledge and experience in query authoring on relational databases
  • Experience building and optimizing large‑scale data pipelines and architectures
  • Strong analytical skills when working with unstructured datasets
  • Experience developing processes that support data transformation, metadata, and workload management
  • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable big‑data stores
  • Strong project‑management and interpersonal skills
  • Experience supporting cross‑functional teams in dynamic environments
Eligibility Requirements
  • GPA of at least 2.7 (or equivalent) and upload of an unofficial transcript
  • Currently enrolled full‑time in an accredited undergraduate, master’s, or PhD program at a four‑year university during the internship period
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week
