Senior Python Data Migration Developer

Location: On-site โ€“ Raleigh, NC

Contract position

Summary

We are seeking a Senior Python Data Migration Developer to design, develop, and support data pipelines, dashboards, integrations, and migration processes across enterprise systems. The successful candidate will support data modernization initiatives by developing Python-based migration and ETL solutions, optimizing SQL queries, building Power BI reporting solutions, and integrating data across legacy and modern platforms.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands-on Python development experience.
  • 5+ years of Power BI experience.
  • 7+ years of strong SQL and relational database experience.
  • 7+ years of data migration or data conversion project experience.
  • 7+ years of experience writing and optimizing SQL queries.
  • 5+ years of SOAP/REST API, backend architecture, and microservices experience.
  • 7+ years of experience with data governance, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, or Ingres.
  • Experience developing and maintaining ETL pipelines and data migration scripts.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Zope application server development/maintenance.
  • Experience with Plone CMS applications development/maintenance.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Python data migration scripts, ETL pipelines, and automation workflows.
  • Design, build, and optimize data models for reporting and analytics.
  • Create interactive Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Perform data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading across databases, APIs, and enterprise systems.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
  • Integrate data from cloud applications, on-premises systems, databases, APIs, and flat files.
  • Design and implement data migration and conversion solutions.
  • Validate migrated data and troubleshoot data quality issues.
  • Reconcile datasets and implement data integrity best practices.
  • Automate recurring data processing and reporting activities.
  • Maintain documentation for data processes, source mappings, and migration procedures.
  • Participate in architecture, design, and planning sessions for modernization projects.
  • Collaborate with business teams to translate reporting and data requirements into technical solutions.
