Job description

About the Role

As a Senior Python Data Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, building, and optimizing scalable data pipelines and cloud-native applications that enable reliable, high-performance data processing and integration. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with data engineers, software developers, architects, product stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical solutions.
This position does not offer visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work without sponsorship now or in the future, including OPT, CPT, H1B or any other work authorization requiring employer sponsorship.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Design, build, and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and processing pipelines using modern Python data frameworks.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain serverless REST APIs and event-driven applications on AWS.
  • Integrate AWS services and enterprise data platforms to ensure reliable messaging, orchestration, and state management.
  • Leverage AI-powered development tools to accelerate coding, testing, documentation, and overall software delivery.
  • Contribute to a fast-paced engineering environment focused on delivering high-quality solutions with speed, scalability, and reliability.
Work Model

What You Need to Have to Be Considered
  • 3 to 6 years of software or data engineering background.
  • Expert-level Python development skills with hands-on experience using data processing frameworks such as Pandas and PySpark.
  • Strong experience designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and data transformation solutions.
  • Deep knowledge of AWS cloud services, including Lambda, API Gateway, Kinesis, SQS, and EventBridge.
  • Experience building REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and enterprise integration solutions.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, testing methodologies, and CI/CD processes.
  • Experience working in agile development environments and collaborating across technical teams.

Compensation

The annual salary for this position ranges from $100,000 to $114,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, subject to performance and applicable plan terms.
