Job description


Position Description:
Delivers time-to-market solutions to help demonstrate technology in an exploratory, highly iterative environment. Manages the technical delivery of software application integrations and custom extensions. Programs with Type Script (Angular), Java/Groovy, and JavaScript. Implements BPM solutions using Camunda. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
  • Develops squad product roadmaps in alignment with product area delivery strategy.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing Business Process Management (BPM) applications, reporting, and data analytics in an investment management environment.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing Business Process Management (BPM) applications, reporting, and data analytics in an investment management environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") designing and developing robust Business Process Management (BPM) applications and data analytics to manage fund data (securities, portfolios, and index-related setup) and maintenance requests across asset classes using Camunda, Appian or other enterprise scaled BPM tools.
  • DE architecting, analyzing, and developing workflow and reporting solutions (exceptions management, helpdesks, and incident management) for reference and performance financial data using Camunda, Appian, Linux, JBOSS, OBIEE or Oracle.
  • DE performing application and API development (analysis, design, testing, maintenance, and support) using Java, Python, or AWS; and designing and implementing data solutions on Cloud using AWS, Java, Python, or JavaScript in a financial services environment.
  • DE developing and maintaining high volume, low latency financial trading and reporting applications using back-end (Java, J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, Microservices, SOAP/REST Web Service, Linux Shell Script, or Python) and front-end client-side technologies (Angular, JavaScript, Typescript, Jquery, or CSS); and writing and debugging queries and stored procedures using Oracle, and performing performance tuning PL/SQL.
