Description

The primary responsibility of the Mutuel Clerk is to assist guests with placing wagers on horse racing and sporting events from around the globe. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental property policies, practices and procedures.  


Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Write, verify, and make payments on tickets for race and sports wagers in accordance with department policy and procedures and ensure compliance to applicable jurisdictional gaming statues and regulations
  • Maintain a cash bank for his/her shift, responsible for accepting payment and making correct change when necessary
  • Stock Race & Sports book Writer/Cashier's stations with adequate supplies; keep all stations neat and clean
  • Make payments on winning tickets in an accurate and timely manner; verify tickets and payoffs
  • Maintain and reconcile bank for assigned shift, following established cash-handling policies and procedures
  • Explain wagering rules, including betting lines and odds, and procedures to guests
  • Ensure the protection of customer's rewards and adherence to credit lines
  • Notify management of escalated or prevalent guest issues/concerns and any apparent suspicious activity
  • Help patrons with withdrawals/deposits through pxp

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED Preferred

Work Experience

  • 6+ Months of Prior Relevant Experience Guest Service and Cash-handling experience Preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays Required

  • Ability to work in and adapt to a dynamic and frequently changing environment
  • Working knowledge of sports
  • Proficient cash-handling and math skills
  • Basic computer and reservation software skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both legible written and verbal forms
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast paced, team-oriented environment
  • Basic knowledge of reservation and computer software to include Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. As well as office equipment such as telephone, copier, POS, etc...
  • Excellent organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints and within established

  • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts
