Job description

Seeking a Senior Tooling Engineer with experience with large stampings (1500 tons+)

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design tooling fixtures, gauges and/or mechanisms as required for manufacturing purposes.
  • Develop blueprints for new and existing tooling designs as per customer or project specifications.
  • Utilize CAD or AutoCAD to analyze existing tooling designs and improve on them.
  • Contact outside sources, when necessary, for cost estimates on tooling, fixtures, gauges, machine components, tool detail and machine work for production or quoting purposes.
  • Prepare detail drawings of tools, dies or machine parts. Assists in the design of dies which will provide maximum productivity and part quality to our customers.
  • Share designs with colleagues and implement any relevant feedback in the new designs.
  • Act as a liaison between Engineering and other departments for trouble shooting and cost reduction purposes. Coordinates the interface between customer design requirements and die shops.
  • Design and test experimental tooling in conjunction with the operations team.
  • Assist in other areas of die design, manufacturing and die start-up.
  • Participates and, as appropriate, leads continuous improvement activities at the facility.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an engineering role, preferably in a heavy industrial stamping setting.
  • Knowledge about selection of tool steels and PVD coating selections for different applications
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others as needed.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills.
