Job Summary
The Service Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating machines at customer facilities both domestically and internationally. This role requires frequent travel to customer sites, performance of preventive and emergency maintenance, delivery of customer training, and provision of remote technical support when not on-site. The Service Engineer independently coordinates service visits, communicates effectively with customers and internal teams, and follows all safety regulations and company policies.
Responsibilities for Field Service Engineer:
1. Maintenance and Repairs - Travel to customer sites to install PVD machines, cleaning systems, and related peripheral equipment included in turnkey solutions.  Perform scheduled preventive maintenance according to company standards.  Troubleshoot equipment issues and complete necessary repairs or component replacements.  Respond promptly to emergency service requests.  Ensure full compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
2. Customer Training - Provide hands?on technical training on machine operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.  Deliver training sessions that ensure customers can safely and efficiently operate their equipment.  Prepare, update, and maintain training materials and documentation.
3. Service Visit Planning & Coordination - Independently schedule and coordinate service visits based on customer needs.  Communicate visit details—including scope, timing, and requirements—to customers.  Keep internal teams, including the Service Manager, informed of upcoming service activities.
4. Remote Support - Provide remote troubleshooting and technical support via phone, email, or remote-access tools when not traveling.  Guide customers through diagnostic processes and corrective actions.
Maintain accurate records of remote support resolutions.
5. Collaboration & Documentation - Share updates on customer issues with colleagues to support team-wide knowledge and efficiency.  Use company reporting tools and ticketing systems to document all service activities.  Contribute to continuous improvement of service procedures, workflows, and technical knowledge.
6. Safety Compliance - Follow all safety regulations, industry best practices, and company policies.  Maintain a safe working environment on customer sites and in the office.  Stay current with trends and advancements related to PVD technology and safety standards.
7. Reporting & Communication - Provide regular updates to the Service Manager on customer feedback, open issues, and completed work.  Collaborate with the Service Manager to improve service delivery and address technical challenges.
Qualifications & Requirements for Field Service Engineer
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics, or a related technical field—or equivalent experience.
Proven experience working with PVD coating machines or similar industrial equipment.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability and willingness to travel 70–80% of the time, both nationally and internationally.
Experience with remote support tools and ticketing systems.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast? Paced environment.
Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
