The Opportunity

The EPC Pursuit Manager for APG (Advanced Power Generation) will function in a lead capacity, owning multiple EPC pursuits across a portfolio of conventional power generation opportunities. In this role, you will guide complex proposals from kickoff through submission, align cross-functional teams around a winning strategy, and help position Black & Veatch for successful project awards. You will partner closely with sales, project leadership, engineering, estimating, construction, procurement, and business enablement teams to translate client needs into compelling, executable solutions. 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate leadership in strategic pursuit planning, influence commercial and execution decisions, and drive accountability across multidisciplinary teams. You will bring strong commercial acumen, the ability to lead through complexity, and an understanding of how EPC pursuits connect to successful project delivery in the APG market. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, coordination, development, review, and submission of EPC proposals in alignment with internal governance and client requirements. 
  • Own assigned pursuits that may range from moderate to highly complex scope and may include significant commercial, execution, and contractual risk. 
  • Partner with sales managers, project directors, project managers, and functional leaders to establish pursuit strategy, proposal schedules, win themes, and execution plans. 
  • Drive accountability across cross-functional teams, including engineering, estimating, project controls, construction, procurement, subcontracts, and LIFTT (Legal, Insurance, Finance, Treasury, and Tax) functions, to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables. 
  • Monitor pursuit budgets and expenditures, providing regular updates to leadership on progress, risks, budget status, and key decisions. 
  • Support commercial strategy by participating in pricing, cost review, value proposition development, and competitive positioning discussions. 
  • Facilitate risk identification, mitigation planning, and leadership review processes required to advance pursuits and strengthen decision-making. 
  • Support negotiations and help drive pursuit activities through award and contract execution. 
  • Lead the handoff of proposal assumptions, commitments, and basis information to project execution teams upon contract award. 
  • Capture lessons learned and continuously improve proposal processes, tools, best practices, and pursuit team effectiveness. 
  • Contribute to business growth by supporting capture planning, prioritization, and pursuit readiness across the APG portfolio, including advanced power generation opportunities and related EPC programs. 
Management Responsibilities
Acts in capacity of a "lead person." Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical project execution field 
  • Experience working in an EPC and/or project management firm.  
  • Experience in Advanced Power Generation projects, including gas power, nuclear, hydro, waste to energy, geothermal or similar technologies. 
  • Understanding of pursuits and / or project execution from a background in a previous project execution function (e.g. Engineering, Project Controls, Project Management, Supply Chain, Subcontracts, or Construction). 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of engineering, project execution or technical pursuit management experience

Certifications

Proposals, sales, and negotiation training preferred.
