Job description

Key Objective:

  • to provide platforms and raw material block-ups to the CNC machines
  • operating spray equipment
  • maintain schedule and quality

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Application of fiberglass chop & barrier coats on sealed foam plugs
  • fabricate raw material blocks to drawings provided or verbal direction from the supervisor.
  • fabricate plywood bases
  • manage platforms and cart inventory
  • layout, cut and bond foam to platforms and carts for both machines
  • construct wood boxed structures as filler for foam block-up
  • deck platforms and carts with plywood as substrate to bond foam blocks
  • strip platforms after mold production and prepare for reuse
  • Ensure all operations are performed safely
  • maintain all areas and equipment clean neat and organized, at all times
  • conduct daily routine maintenance of equipment
  • Store all materials safely at the end of the day
  • Conduct operations using TDC mold fabrication approved processes (ISPC)

Proficiencies:

  • Safe operation of table saws , band saws , sanders, planers etc.
  • Chop gun and barrier gun (Spraycore)
  • Use of typical woodworking hand tools
  • Understanding of adhesive systems and their use
  • Reading fabrication drawings

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safety: provides for continuous improvement and zero recordable safety environment.
  • Quality: responsible for Adherence of procedures and processes.
  • Delivery: responsible for maintaining schedule to meet key milestones.
  • Cost: Maintains departmental budget in labor and materials.

  • Leads by example.
  • Ensures all associates comply with Pursuits policies, codes, and procedures.
  • Supports a predictable work environment where associates are held accountable and treated with respect, constantly challenged and praised for continuous improvement of process, work environment, and themselves.
  • Supports plans to achieve key metrics for their department, i.e. safety, turnover, and supply spending.
  • Understands environmental compliance as it relates to material used in their area:  chemical handling, usage, labeling, storage, and disposal.
  • Supports continuous improvement utilizing Safety system, Kaizen, CAR system, and other problem-solving techniques.
  • Responsible for the proper maintenance of all equipment used in their area. Drives workplace organization using the 5S methodology.
  • Identifies problems (i.e. material shortages, employee relations issues, etc.) within their scope and communicates to the group leader when additional assistance is needed.
  • Support training team members
  • Interacts with other departments to resolve issues

Housekeeping:

  • Performs housekeeping and other job-related duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Frequently handles and ensures that cleanliness and orderliness standards are met throughout the plant.  This means doing the work him/herself whenever necessary.
  • Promote department cleanliness. Keep all shop areas clean, parts put away in an orderly fashion
  • Promote tool organization and workstation organization

Qualifications

General knowledge and understanding of required power tools

Must be able to understand and execute top quality

Must be able to pass the strength/stress test and drug/alcohol screening contingent to the hiring process

Job requires standing and working in and around boats/molds throughout the entire day

Must work efficiently and in the safest manner possible, following all safety regulations at all time

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:  

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:  

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment

Employee is exposed to ambient could temperatures for short periods in the winter months and is exposed to ambient heat temperatures in summer months. Very dusty environment. Airborne particulates from cutting, drilling, grinding. Exposure to extremely sharp tooling used for cutting fiberglass.

  • Typical 10 hour work day

•     Typical 4- or 5-day work week schedule based upon schedule.

•     Overtime is occasional to frequent based on a number of factors.

•     Required to work indoors and outdoors, year round and in all weather conditions.

•     May be required to work during production shutdowns or other “off-schedule” periods to conduct special activities.

•     Safety glasses required while in production areas

•     Other PPE may be required based on specific projects.
