Job description

Purchasing Clerk | Overland Park, KS Full-Time | Contract-to-Hire| $20-23ph. LHH is partnering with a well-established construction company in the Shawnee, KS area who is seeking to hire a Purchasing Clerk. The Purchasing Clerk will support day-to-day purchasing activities by processing orders, tracking inventory levels, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring materials and supplies are available when needed. The ideal candidate is organized, enjoys working with data, and has strong communication and problem-solving skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Process purchase orders and ensure accuracy of pricing, quantities, and delivery dates.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with replenishment planning.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding order status, pricing, and product availability.
  • Enter and maintain purchasing and inventory data within company systems.
  • Track open orders and follow up on delayed shipments.
  • Assist with receiving documentation and inventory reconciliation.
  • Maintain accurate vendor and product records.
  • Support inventory counts, cycle counts, and periodic audits.
  • Research discrepancies involving orders, invoices, shipments, or inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, operations, customer service, and accounting teams to ensure smooth order fulfillment.
  • Generate reports related to inventory, purchasing activity, and stock levels.
  • Perform general administrative duties to support the purchasing department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
  • Previous administrative, data entry, customer service, warehouse, retail inventory, or office support experience is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Willingness to learn purchasing, inventory management, and supply chain processes.
  • Exposure to inventory management, order entry, purchasing, or warehouse operations.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, or similar platforms.
  • Intermediate Excel skills including sorting, filtering, and basic formulas.
