Location(s): Chicago, St. Louis, or Kansas City


Mac Properties is a dynamic and growing private residential real estate company with operations in the metropolitan areas of Chicago, St. Louis, and Kansas City.
We have a unique opportunity for a Purchasing Manager to join our team! This person will develop, lead, and execute centralized purchasing and sourcing strategies to achieve economies of scale and ensure regional inventory centers are always in stock. This position is responsible for processing orders, purchasing job material, shop and office supplies, maintaining inventory levels, discovering new suppliers, tracking supplier quality and performance, auditing supplier invoices, obtaining competitive quotes, and reducing cost.


 Duties and Responsibilities will include:


  • Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, & speed of delivery.
  • Seek & partner with reliable vendors & suppliers; negotiate on behalf of the Company. Establish strong working relationships with key vendors.
  • Resolve vendor issues, vendor changes, and potential product additions.
  • Assess & manage material availability; forecast availability based on demand, market, delivery, & other variables.
  • Develop and implement new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Analyze & report on market conditions & product costs. Identify changing sales trends and attain forecast accuracy.
  • Prepare & process purchase orders for materials, supplies, & equipment.
  • Track & report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned


Additional Skills and qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7+ years of corporate purchasing experience; familiarity with sourcing & vendor management
  • 4+ years of supervisory experience with the ability to effectively train and manage others
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Software – Excel required or other management software experience a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple high priority projects
  • Strong work ethic focused on meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
