BetterWay Products, a division of Patrick Industries, is hiring a Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing Manager will act as a leader of the Purchasing Department. A strong background in purchasing is required, with preferred previous manufacturing purchasing experience. Primary responsibilities are for the purchasing of marine furniture manufacturing products, negotiation of vendor pricing, trend reporting, forecasting, and ensuring inventory supply meets demand for manufacturing processes.

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee all aspects of purchasing raw materials and supplies for the plant
    • Communicate with vendors when there are issues and work with them to resolve them in a timely fashion
    • Look for new vendors, evaluate their product offering/pricing, and negotiation of purchasing contracts
    • Report out to vendors on time delivery/backlog of open purchasing orders monthly to make sure they know where they stand and what our expectations are
  • Manage Purchasing Agents on a day-to-day basis, ensuring they have what they need to be successful
  • Report daily KPI metrics to production/management group tracking backorder piece count, on-time delivery, customer-specific reports, etc.
  • Lead inventory activities on semi-annual basis
    • Responsible for inventory accuracy and assembling inventory financial packet for management
  • Maintain inventory levels and minimize/disposition obsolescence
    • Cycle count items regularly to maintain inventory levels and accuracy
  • Lead new MRP system implementation
  • Work with International Vendors to import products as needed
  • Collaborate with warehouse operations teams
  • Oversee BOM expert to maintain/create BOMs for existing and Finished Goods
    • Update costing/quotes as needed
    • Export/maintain master price list and vendor specific add-ons
  • Issue charge backs to vendors from Warranty related issues

Continuous Improvement & Environmental, Health and Safety:

  • Adhere to and enforce manufacturing strategies aligned with overall company objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and addressing any opportunities to reduce costs, improve processes and overall operations
  • Provide leadership in the growth and maturation of the continuous improvement culture

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years' experience in purchasing in a manufacturing setting
  • Strict adherence to company standards and safety procedures
  • Proficient computer skills, knowledge in AX is a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership standards
  • Developed reasoning/problem solving skills
  • Strong accountability and follow-through skills
  • Strong tact and diplomacy; ability to work effectively with staff on all levels
  • Self-motivated to work independently in a busy environment with changing priorities and the ability to adapt
