Job description

Job Summary:

The Parts and Purchasing Assistant is responsible to order parts and maintain inventory for the Vernon Plant.   

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; overtime when necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Vernon Plant's inventory and accounting management system.
  • Issue purchase orders and log invoices to maintain acceptable inventory of parts.
  • Review purchase orders to ensure accurate delivery of goods.
  • Receive and distribute inbound deliveries to the appropriate departments.
  • Assist in assuring that all items are properly checked out of the stockroom and recorded as necessary.
  • Serve as a point of contact to answer internal and external customer questions and/or concerns in reference to parts/stockroom.
  • Prepare and participate in physical inventory.
  • Upholds quality, safety, and cleanliness standards within designated areas.
  • Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly environment in the stock room.
  • Order parts from main and alternative vendors as needed.
  • Maintain accurate files.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

 SQF Requirements:

  • Support Safe Quality Food (SQF) by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining work areas in a sanitary manner.
  • Ensure biosecurity procedures are followed.
  • Support SQF by maintaining the Approved Supplier Program and related registers.
  • Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Maintain the Prevention Maintenance Program.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Two-year business or similar degree preferred.
  • Two to three years' experience in inventory management, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Technical knowledge and good understanding of machinery and parts.
  • Advanced computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service abilities.
  • Excellent problem solving and continuous learning.

 Physical Requirements:
