Position Overview
Automated Production, L.L.C. is hiring a Purchasing Manager for our Broussard location.
This is a relationship-driven, value-generating role. We need someone who knows the metals market, can negotiate and structure terms, and works closely with both department managers and vendors - actively building strong relationships on both sides to keep material flowing efficiently. You will be responsible for securing the best prices, consolidating material buys across the shop, and ensuring our cutting, machining, fabrication, and assembly departments always have the material they need on time, while delivering a quality, on-time service to our customers.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Source Raw Materials: Connect directly with suppliers to source metals, plate, pipe, structural steel, and fabrication consumables - building vendor relationships that drive pricing and reliability.
  • Negotiate Pricing & Terms: Negotiate prices, secure better payment terms, and manage material costs.
  • Consolidate Orders: Combine smaller job orders across the shop into bulk buys to get volume discounts.
  • Purchase Order Management: Issue, track, and manage POs - including for shop and office supplies - ensuring proper approval workflows and documentation.
  • Department Coordination: Work daily with the admin team and heads of Cutting, Machining, Fabrication, and Assembly to time material arrivals with production schedules and understand each department's evolving needs.
  • Use IT & Software: Use modern purchasing software and inventory tools to keep buying clear, efficient, and trackable.
