Position: Purchasing Manager

Reports To: Director, Capital Equipment & Supply Chain - Purchasing

Direct Reports: Yes

Rotation:5/2 (MON-FRI)

Shift: 8HRs/Day (8am-5pm w/Hour @ Lunch)

Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 Annually (Paid Twice Per Month)

Bonus: Eligible

Purpose and Scope of Position:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the tactical procurement of commodities, supplies, equipment, and services to be used by the organization-domestically and globally. The Purchasing Manager coordinates their efforts with warehouse and site supervisors to maintain the appropriate level of inventory. This individual will utilize expert knowledge to purchase goods and services at the most favorable price while simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers. The Purchasing Manager coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising. The Purchasing Manager reviews requisitions, confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Two-year College Business Diploma and/or Equivalent PMAC (Purchasing Management Association of Canada Courses).
  • Minimum of 5 years in a Supply Chain Leadership role.

        Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

        • Responsible for all procurement and purchasing activities on assigned projects.
        • Select products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
        • Estimate values according to knowledge of market price.
        • Determine method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid.
        • Prepare purchase orders or bid requests, reviewing bid proposals and negotiating contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
        • Maintain and ensure manual and computerized procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
        • Prepare RFI, RFQ, and RFP for the procurement process.
        • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or QA/QC personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
        • Support departments in preparations of estimates by contacting vendors for "budgetary pricing" for equipment and materials.
        • Implement contracting strategies and contracts for construction and professional services, and other services in support of capital projects for clients.
        • Responsible for support and guidance to engineering personnel, Project Managers, and Operations on formation, implementation, and administration of contract/subcontract procedures.
        • Ensure that all contract administration procedures are followed and executed in a professional manner.
        • Responsible for assisting and advising Project Managers with ongoing administration of our contracts with clients and for ensuring adherence to established contracts and procedures and requirements.
        • Maintain records of business transactions and product inventories, reporting data to companies or government agencies as necessary.
        • Organize and conduct strategic meetings and maintain minutes for contract/procurement discussions and company initiatives.
        • Manage and supervise direct reports, providing guidance, feedback, and assistance as necessary.
