Job description

THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING

  • Join the U.S. supply chain organization of an established global manufacturing company with operations across more than 29 countries.
  • Step into a key leadership position within a recently restructured supply chain organization, reporting directly to the Senior Supply Chain Manager.
  • Lead a team of 6, including 5 Buyers and 1 Supply Chain Analyst, with responsibility across both direct and indirect purchasing.
  • Work closely with global procurement leadership and international counterparts to identify sourcing opportunities and leverage the organization’s global supplier network.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, R&D, and other business leaders to strengthen purchasing processes and supplier performance.

LOCATION

  • Huntersville, NC
  • 5 days onsite during training, 3/2 hybrid after

WHAT THEY OFFER YOU

  • Leadership opportunity with an established global manufacturing organization.
  • Take over an existing purchasing function while helping shape a newly restructured supply chain organization.
  • Lead an established team rather than stepping into a purely individual contributor purchasing role.
  • Gain exposure to both regional and global procurement initiatives while collaborating with international supply chain and procurement leadership.
  • Opportunity to influence purchasing processes, supplier development, strategic sourcing, risk management, and continuous improvement across the organization.

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT

  • Own and lead the purchasing function for the region, with approximately 60% of the role focused on procurement and 40% on strategic sourcing.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the team responsible for supplier negotiations and day-to-day purchasing activity rather than personally owning every negotiation.
  • Oversee both direct and indirect purchasing within a manufacturing environment, including materials such as polymers, PVC, and other plastics.
  • Help determine when materials can be sourced internally through the company’s international operations versus when external supplier relationships need to be developed.
  • Drive supplier evaluation, development, risk management, purchasing efficiencies, and opportunities to reduce regional procurement spend.
  • Maintain purchasing activity and master data within SAP Materials Management while helping improve purchasing processes, tools, and KPIs.

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS

  • 5+ years of purchasing experience with demonstrated experience leading a purchasing or procurement team.
  • Strong background managing procurement within a manufacturing environment; experience purchasing raw materials is a plus.
  • Hands-on understanding of both procurement and strategic sourcing, including supplier selection, development, purchasing strategy, and supply planning.
  • SAP Materials Management experience is a must-have for this position.
  • Strong people leader who can effectively manage and develop Buyers and Supply Chain professionals while keeping the team aligned on priorities.
  • Proactive communicator who is comfortable keeping leadership, internal stakeholders, and global partners informed rather than waiting for issues to escalate.
  • Comfortable operating within a global organization and collaborating with procurement and supply chain teams internationally.
  • CPSM or CPM certification is preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred based on the organization’s established profile for the position.
