Job description

Position Summary: The Food Distributor is responsible for the operation within the packing area. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that there is a seamless flow packing TCAH bags and all TCAH partners are able to receive their food donations. The ideal candidate has an unwavering commitment to TCAH's mission of hunger relief and food justice; excellent customer service skills, organization and communication skills, dependable and reliable and proven problem solving skills.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • help to sort and place stock or items in store
  • Maintain inventory controls by collecting stock and recording on requisition sheet/system dry, fresh and refrigerated goods
  • Replenish stock on shelves at designated intervals to ensure food availability
  • Ensure that products are dated and rotated before distribution to clients
  • Understand and utilize the TCAH point system, put in place to provide wholesome bags
  • Maintain all logs including freezer/refrigerator and pest control logs
  • Maintain 45 bags per hour
  • Create a customerfriendly environment
  • Ensure that all egresses are cleared
  • Assist in all aspects of the distribution of nutritional food packages to eligible clients, including, but not limited to, stocking shelves, assisting with deliveries, conducting intake and assessment, assisting clients in “shopping” at the pantry, handling “check out” counter, etc.
  • Assist with management of stock room inventory, packaging food items, all aspects of the produce link program (i.e., picking up and distributing vegetables), and resource development and community relations
  • Perform all other positionrelated duties as assigned or requested
  • REQUIREMENTS:
  • Passionate about the organizational mission of alleviating hunger and the advancement of food justice
  • Minimum of 3 years of customer service experience, data entry and computer skills may be required
  • Basic analytical ability required
  • Regularly required to use hands to handle, feel, reach and multitask
  • Regularly lift and/or move stock weighing 50lbs Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance
  • Strong ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ABILITIES:
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
  • Regularly lift and/or move objects 1050lbs occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
