Job description

Part-time 28 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Works with the district media specialist to provide library media services to the school
  • Purchases books, teacher resources, and digital resources in the media center to ensure patrons'needs and state instructional standards are being met
  • Performs media center day-to-day operations including but not limited to report gathering, inventory management, circulation. catalog maintenance, patron inquiries, and student supervision
  • Reads to students and provides lessons throughout the school year that demonstrate the use of the library management system, research, and proper use of library resources
  • Works cooperatively with classroom teachers to make resources related to units available (e.g., makes book displays/bulletin boards, pulls resources for classroom study)
  • Demonstrates willingness to attend professional development
  • Supports literacy initiatives and actively participates in activities that support reading
  • Engages elementary students in a positive manner
  • Organizes and take initiative
  • Assists faculty with the development and presentation of learning materials
  • Displays good communication skills
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance
  • Enjoys working with children of all ages, grades, and abilities
