Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as an Exotic Car Inventory Manager/Buyer for our prestigious car dealership. The ideal candidate will have a passion for luxury and exotic vehicles, extensive knowledge of the automotive industry, and a proven track record in sales and purchasing. As the Exotic Car Inventory Manager/Buyer, you will be responsible for managing our inventory, sourcing, and purchasing exotic cars, and providing exceptional customer service to our discerning clientele.
Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
  • Oversee the management and organization of the dealership's exotic car inventory
  • Ensure the proper documentation and maintenance of vehicle records, including titles, registrations, and service history
  • Conduct regular inventory audits to track and update vehicle availability and pricing
  • Assure vehicles in inventory on front line are well organized, presented, managed, serviced
  • Manage age of inventory assuring the correct rotation in a timely manner. (Inventory Health & Rotation)-Monitor "days in stock" with a hawk's eye.
  • Responsible for ensuring the collection remains fresh and that capital is not tied up in stagnant units

Vehicle Sourcing and Purchasing:
  • Identify and source high-quality exotic cars from various channels, including auctions, trade-ins, private sellers, and online platforms
  • Evaluate and negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with sellers to ensure optimal profitability and customer satisfaction
  • Conduct thorough vehicle inspections, appraisals, and coordinate necessary repairs/reconditioning or modifications, if required, to meet dealership standards
  • Strategic Acquisition: Source premier inventory through private collections, high-end auctions, and trade-ins
  • Wholesale Network Management: Maintain a "black book" of industry contacts to facilitate dealer-to-dealer trades and off-market acquisitions

Market Analysis and Pricing:
  • Stay up to date with current market trends, industry news, and competitor activities in the exotic car segment
  • Analyze market demand, pricing data, and customer preferences to determine the most competitive pricing strategies for our inventory
  • Adjust pricing and negotiating deals to maximize profitability while remaining competitive within the market
  • Digital Merchandising: Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure professional-grade photography and compelling, technically accurate descriptions for digital storefronts.

Administrative Tasks:
  • Prepare and review all necessary paperwork, contracts, and documentation related to vehicle purchases, sales, and trade-ins
  • Coordinate with the finance and accounting departments to ensure accurate record-keeping and timely payment processing
  • Generate reports on sales, inventory turnover, and other key performance indicators to assess dealership performance and identify areas for improvement

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in High End segment automotive sales, purchasing, or dealership management with a focus on exotic or luxury vehicles
  • Extensive knowledge of exotic car brands, models, features, and market values
  • Proven track record of successful sales and purchasing in the automotive industry
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships
  • Attention to detail and the ability to conduct thorough vehicle inspections
  • Proficiency in using automotive industry tools and software for inventory management and pricing analysis
  • Experience DMS Inspection/approval systems such as Advanced Service
  • Google Sheets for Sale/Service Department tracking and status reports
  • Established company protocols such as Consignment and Purchase procedure for Smog, Safety or CPO/Selezione Inspection and reconditioning, reporting of CPO/Selezione registration
  • Experience with Inventory Management (Properly Stocking in Vehicles, Smog requirements for Stock and Consignment cars, has smog or CPO/Selezione certification expired)
  • Experience with CPO/Selezione program rules for Initial inspection, reconditioning, and reporting
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Valid California Sales license
