Job description

Job Summary 

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for procuring materials, components, equipment, and services to support production and business operations at our Mills, WY office. This position works closely with internal departments and suppliers to ensure timely delivery, cost-effective purchasing, and accurate inventory management. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy. 

  • Source and procure materials, components, equipment, and services to support production schedules and business operations. 
  • Prepare, issue, and track Purchase Orders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services. 
  • Communicate with suppliers to confirm pricing, lead times, delivery schedules, and order status. 
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers to support quality, cost, and delivery objectives. 
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to prevent shortages while minimizing excess inventory, working with the Spare Part Coordinator. 
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, warehouse, and accounting teams to ensure purchasing activities align with operational needs. 
  • Resolve purchasing discrepancies, invoice issues, shipping delays, and supplier concerns in a timely manner. 
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and vendor information within the ERP system. 
  • Assist in obtaining competitive quotes and evaluating suppliers for quality, pricing, and service. 
  • Support inventory counts, receiving activities, and material reconciliation as needed. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency. 
  • Abide by all policies and procedures established by DISA. 
  • Attend and participate in all required safety training courses. 
  • Assist with any task required by the direct supervisor. 

Requirements

Education/Experience 

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred. 
  • 2+ years of purchasing, procurement, inventory, or supply chain experience preferred. 
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite experience preferred). 
  • Manufacturing or industrial purchasing experience is a plus. 
  • Required Skills 
    • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through. 
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 
    • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines. 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. 
    • Experience using ERP or purchasing software systems. 
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. 
    • Maintain professionalism with high attention to detail, reliability, accountability, and accuracy in all work deliverables.
