Position Summary

The Sales Associate assists customers with purchasing merchandise while providing excellent customer service and maintaining a welcoming retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Sales Associate will be expected to consistently deliver outstanding outcomes in the following areas:

  1. Greets and interacts with customers, with attention to sampling and cross-selling.
  2. Consults with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to making a purchase.
  3. Demonstrates and explains merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for the customer’s needs.
  4. Answers customers’ questions about products and merchandise.
  5. Assists customers with purchase decisions and encourage them to return.
  6. Collects payments and accurately operates a POS system. 
  7. Processes returns and exchanges.
  8. Retrieves merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations; places special orders as needed.
  9. Cooks and/or hand dips store made product to meet store requirement and order demands.
  10. Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked retail environment.
  11. Must be punctual and reliable for all scheduled shifts. 
  12. Performs other department related duties as assigned.

This role requires strong retail sales execution and front-line leadership while delivering high-quality customer experience. Success in this role depends on strong communication, organizational skills, product knowledge and the ability to meet or exceed sales goals in a fast-paced environment. 

Education, Experience & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • 6+ months retail experience, preferred.
  • Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills.
  • Ability to anticipate customers' needs and recommend appropriate merchandise.
  • Ability to operated or quickly learn the store's point-of-sale system.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to recommend merchandise to customers.
  • Ability to operate or to quickly learn the store's point-of-sale system.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to work independently during slower business periods when required.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking in a fast-paced retail space.
  • Must be able to move throughout the shift including behind customer counters, around cooking tables and in stock room, frequently lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, bend, reach away from the body and above waist level, and grasp small objects, with or without reasonable accommodation.
