Buyer – Purchasing Specialist
Kelly Services | Direct Hire
Location: Georgetown, MA
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8-Hour Shift | Onsite
Salary: $60,000–$70,000, depending on experience will go higher for right candidate 

Kelly Services is seeking a Buyer – Purchasing Specialist for a well-established manufacturing organization in Georgetown, MA. This is a great opportunity for a purchasing professional who enjoys working in a hands-on manufacturing environment and wants to play an important role in keeping production running smoothly.
The Buyer – Purchasing Specialist will manage day-to-day procurement activities, including supplier selection, pricing, purchase orders, delivery schedules, inventory requirements, and supplier relationships. This position works closely with Manufacturing, Inventory, Warehouse, Accounting, and Production teams to ensure materials and components are available when needed.
What You'll Do
  • Research, evaluate, and select qualified vendors and suppliers.
  • Request, review, and compare competitive pricing, proposals, and bids.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and supplier agreements.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders for materials, components, and services.
  • Monitor purchase orders and supplier commitments to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Track lead times and proactively address potential supply disruptions.
  • Resolve issues involving delayed shipments, damaged materials, shortages, or supplier performance.
  • Partner with Production and Manufacturing teams to support production schedules and MRP requirements.
  • Manage lead times and safety stock levels for critical and long-lead components.
  • Monitor inventory levels and determine when replenishment is required.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, and inventory records.
  • Ensure purchasing and ERP system data is accurate and up to date.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse, Inventory, Accounting, and other internal teams.
  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with suppliers.
  • Analyze purchasing trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Ensure purchasing activities follow company policies and applicable requirements.
  • Provide purchasing support and resolve issues independently while keeping internal stakeholders informed.

What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Purchasing, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory, supply chain, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with vendors and suppliers.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with an ERP, MRP, or purchasing system preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
