Job Description

Position Overview

The Associate, Renewable Procurement (Energy Storage) will lead RFPs and negotiate supply agreements for BESS equipment. The Associate will also support vendor and product evaluations, while staying up to date with industry trends on technology and pricing.

This position will work from Invenergy's office in downtown Chicago, IL.

Invenergy follows a hybrid schedule, working in office Monday through Thursday and remotely on Fridays.

Responsibilities

  • Lead negotiation of key exhibits in supply agreements (including scope of supply, technical specifications, performance guarantees, etc.). Coordinate with Engineering, Project Management, Operations and Origination teams to ensure system design, product specifications, warranties and performance guarantees are in line with prudent industry practices as well as all applicable project agreements.

  • Prepare Request for Proposal packages in coordination with Engineering, Construction, and Operations teams. Manage and evaluate vendor bid responses, analyze procurement options to assist in making equipment supply recommendations.

  • Coordinate closely with Origination and Pre-Construction teams in early to mid-stage development to stay up to date with project timelines, project sizing and equipment requirements. Identify and surface procurement risks as necessary. Support procurement strategy for Invenergy's portfolio of BESS projects, based on technical and commercial considerations, and supplier evaluation

  • Lead technical due diligence of energy storage products, and coordinate with suppliers on product roadmap, to understand its impacts on Invenergy's energy storage pipeline and procurement strategy.

  • Manage supplier relationships and serve as a key interface between internal teams and suppliers. This includes leading meetings, managing RFIs, and resolving complex technical problems by collaborating closely with stakeholders.

  • Support development of Invenergy's technical specifications in collaboration with the Engineering team. Drive improvements and regular updates, ensuring requirements are in line with market expectations and industry-specific standards and codes.

  • Drive process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with Engineering, Construction, and Operations teams to improve future sourcing strategy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical or business discipline.

  • 3+years of work experience; prior experience working in Project Construction, Engineering, Procurement, or Sourcing.

  • A desire and aptitude to understand the Construction and Energy/Utilities industry is a minimum requirement.

  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, specifications, and engineering drawings.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multi-task and manage deliverables for multiple projects concurrently.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and communications skills.

  • Occasional travel to project sites and manufacturing facilities will be required.

  • Valid Drivers License.

  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of BESS equipment (batteries, inverters, and other electrical generation equipment) and understanding of energy markets is preferred.

  • Experience with contract administration or contract management is a plus.

Base Pay

$93,000 - $108,000USD Annual

Bonus: 20% - 30%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
