Job Description

As a Purchasing Agent at David Weekley Homes, you’ll play a key role in helping deliver high-quality homes on time and on budget. You’ll collaborate with vendors, builders and internal team members to source materials, negotiate pricing and make sure every detail aligns with our purpose of Building Dreams and Enhancing Lives. Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate hard costs and pricing for assigned categories, ensuring alignment with Division goals
  • Establish and maintain effective sourcing and category management programs
  • Manage Scopes of Work with internal teams and trade partners to drive efficiency and quality; coordinate with the National Category Management Team
  • Address warranty issues and oversee Curated Programs with Preferred Partners
  • Support plan updates and redline changes, participating in new floor plan and lot-specific walks to improve design and value
  • Oversee the full bid process, ensuring proposals are complete, accurate, and competitive
  • Negotiate contracts and model discounts to secure optimal pricing and performance
  • Report category pricing and bid results to Regional and National Teams, providing recommendations for approval
Qualifications
  • 2 or more years in residential construction operations or purchasing preferred
  • Excellent negotiation skills with demonstrated success in this area 
  • Track record of building great partnerships with vendors and internal team members
  • Strong math and MS Excel computer skills are essential; exposure to JD Edwards beneficial 
  • An ideal candidate will also possess the following intangibles: naturally curious, self-directed, adaptable to change, disciplined work habits, good organizational skills 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related equivalent experience
