Purchasing Agent
Location: Wayne, NJ
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour

Staff Management Group is seeking a reliable and experienced Purchasing Agent to support our client's production and daily operations.
Job Summary
The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, components, and services while ensuring orders are accurate, delivered on time, and maintained at appropriate inventory levels. This position will work closely with vendors and internal departments to manage purchasing needs, resolve issues, and help control costs.
Job Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain purchase orders based on production and inventory needs
  • Monitor inventory levels and usage to prevent shortages or excess inventory
  • Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, quantities, lead times, and delivery dates
  • Monitor open purchase orders and follow up on delays or supply issues
  • Expedite critical materials when needed to prevent production interruptions
  • Verify order confirmations against purchase order requirements
  • Maintain accurate purchasing information in the ERP system
  • Resolve discrepancies involving pricing, quantities, damaged or incorrect shipments, and missing items
  • Coordinate returns, replacements, credits, and vendor claims
  • Work with Accounting to resolve purchasing and invoice discrepancies
  • Request and evaluate vendor quotations and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Maintain professional relationships with vendors
  • Support inventory counts, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Purchasing, materials, inventory, or supply chain experience preferred
  • Knowledge of purchase orders, inventory control, lead times, and vendor management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
