Department: Inventory Control

Position Overview: The Inventory Control Specialist I is responsible for maintaining accurate information on inventory levels throughout the facility.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Performs inventory cycle counts.ย 
  • Identifies and reconciles minor discrepancies when discovered.ย 
  • Escalates major discrepancies as needed.ย 
  • Works with department managers to maintain accurate inventory information.ย 
  • Responsible for directing the flow of damaged merchandise.ย 
  • Works closely with other departments to facilitate issue resolution.ย 
  • Serves as back-up for at least one other area of focus within the Inventory Control department.ย 
  • Runs and shares predefined daily and weekly reports.ย 
  • Maintains nonconformances and works closely with other departments to facilitate issue resolution.ย 
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and operates all equipment in a safe and food-safe manner.ย 
  • Complies with Bob's Red Mill food safety policies and procedures including adherence to FDA regulations, Safe Quality Food (SQF) Standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). ย 
  • Responsible for reporting food safety and quality concerns to Supervisors and/or Department Manager. ย 
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.ย 
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None.
  • This position reports to the Production Supervisor and Packaging Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.ย 
  • Ability to run and communicate reports effectively.ย 
  • Possesses effective communication skills, both verbal and written.ย 
  • Proficient in using ERP and supporting software.ย 
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.ย 
  • Working proficiency with computers and basic software.ย 
  • Proficiency with job-related tools and equipment.ย 
  • Proficient in using Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.ย

Education and Experience:
  • 1 or more years of experience in the food packaging industry, AND

  • Must have or be able to obtain forklift certification.ย 
Physical Demands: ย 
  • Frequently requires the ability to lift and stack products weighing up to 10 pounds.ย 
  • Occasionally requires the ability to lift and stack products weighing up to 55 pounds.ย 
  • Position may require standing for up to 4 hours at a time.ย 
  • Position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.ย 
Work Environment:ย 
  • The primary work environment for this position is within a food manufacturing and warehouse setting.ย 
  • Use of personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to, helmets, eye protection, earplugs, and hairnets are mandatory, and the use of non-slip shoes is recommended.ย
