Lloyd Richards Personnel is currently seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent for one of our valued manufacturing partners. This role is responsible for sourcing materials, maintaining vendor relationships, managing purchase orders, and supporting production schedules through effective procurement practices.

Responsibilities

• Source and purchase raw materials, fabricated components, consumables, and production supplies.
• Create, issue, and manage purchase orders to support manufacturing operations.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate material replenishment to prevent production delays.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotes to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery.
• Track purchase orders and follow up on deliveries to ensure materials arrive on schedule.
• Work closely with production, engineering, quality, and warehouse teams to support operational requirements.
• Review material certifications, documentation, and supplier records as required.
• Assist with inventory control, cycle counts, and material reconciliation activities.
• Coordinate with suppliers regarding discrepancies, shortages, quality concerns, and delivery issues.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor files, and procurement documentation.
• Analyze purchasing trends and recommend cost-saving opportunities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to procurement and inventory management.
• Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Purchasing Agent, Buyer, Procurement Specialist, Inventory Coordinator, or similar role required.
• Experience working within a manufacturing, fabrication, industrial, or production environment preferred.
• Strong understanding of purchasing processes, vendor management, and inventory control.
• Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, material specifications, and technical documentation.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Experience utilizing ERP, MRP, or inventory management systems preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience

• Manufacturing or fabrication industry experience.
• Inventory management and material planning.
• Supplier negotiations and vendor development.
• Material certifications, MTRs, and quality documentation.
• ERP/MRP software systems.
• Production scheduling support.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout office, warehouse, and production environments.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work in both office and manufacturing settings as needed.
• Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams.
