Job Title: Federal Tobacco Undercover Purchaser (Under 21) Location: Central, PA (Must live within Cumberland/York County, PA) About the Role: The FDA, under the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, is seeking Underage Purchasers (UPs) to assist in the enforcement of tobacco sales laws. This role supports efforts to prevent tobacco access by individuals under age 21, safeguarding public health through retail compliance inspections. Your Impact: Participate in Undercover Buy Inspections by attempting to purchase tobacco products at assigned retail establishments to help evaluate retailer compliance. Adhere to all training, operational, confidentiality, and safety protocols required by the FDA and 1 Alpha Consulting LLC. Support public health work focused on protecting youth from the harmful effects of tobacco and ensuring retailers comply with federal tobacco sales law. Complete required paperwork and online forms documenting inspections results, including product information, pricing, retailer details, and required observations. Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding scheduling, route assignments, inspection completion, and any safety or compliance concerns. These responsibilities are not exhaustive; additional tasks may be assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Must be between 16 and 20 years old. Applicants aged 16 or 17 must provide parent or guardian consent and required emergency medical forms. Dependable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record are required for travel to assigned inspection locations. Proof of personal auto insurance coverage is required before participating in inspections. Willingness to complete required background checks, as applicable, including for applicants age 18 or older or applicants turning 18 during service. Ability to complete all required program training, including online modules, and follow all inspection and safety instructions. Standout Qualifications: Prior experience or interest in compliance, public health, retail, community programs, or similar environments. Demonstrated reliability in following regulatory, confidentiality, and safety guidelines. Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate observations clearly to supervisors. Ability to travel independently across assigned Pennsylvania counties while minimizing unnecessary travel time. Interest in supporting public health efforts that help prevent youth access to tobacco products. Pay Range: $15.00/hr. This is a part‐time, non‐benefited that requires regular travel within the assigned service area. Mileage reimbursement is provided for approved work‐related travel in accordance with company policy.
