Job Description:

The Entry Level Purchasing Specialist supports the procurement of direct materials, components, and services used in the production of high-volume, high-precision automotive components. This entry-level role focuses on supplier coordination, cost tracking, purchasing execution, and cross-functional support across engineering, production, and global purchasing teams.


Key Responsibilities

•Support cost analysis and tracking for assigned components and materials throughout product development and production phases.

•Assist with procurement of direct materials and services, including RFQs, bid coordination, supplier comparisons, and purchase order execution.

•Maintain and update purchasing and material data within ERP and related systems.

•Coordinate purchasing activities with internal stakeholders, including engineering, production, logistics, and finance.

•Communicate with domestic and international suppliers to support delivery, quality, and cost objectives.

•Track supplier performance metrics including cost, delivery, and capacity.

•Review drawings, bills of material, and part lists to ensure purchasing accuracy.

•Participate in supplier meetings focused on continuous improvement initiatives.

•Assist with resolution of logistics, delivery, and invoice discrepancies.

•Support global purchasing coordination efforts as needed.

•Participate in project-related purchasing activities and continuous improvement initiatives.


Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field.

•0–2 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, manufacturing, or automotive environments.

•Exposure to lean manufacturing concepts preferred.

•Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with ERP or inventory systems preferred.

•Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.

•Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.

•Self-motivated with attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability.

•Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25 percent.


Work Environment

•Automotive manufacturing and supplier-facing environment.

•Collaboration with global teams and external suppliers.


Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements for this office role include the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, typically up to 8 hours a day, and regularly operate standard office equipment such as computers and phones. Employees should be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally and frequently perform tasks that require typing, writing, and document handling. Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with adequate visual and auditory abilities to read materials and participate in meetings.
