Job description

Purchasing Manager – Residential Construction

Location: Kansas City, MO
Job Type: Full-Time

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our growing Kansas City operation. This is a high-impact opportunity for a residential construction purchasing professional who understands the details of the purchasing process and is ready to take ownership of the function while helping shape the next phase of market growth.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing purchase orders, vendor relationships, pricing, and the day-to-day purchasing process within residential construction. We're looking for someone who can step in, get up to speed quickly, and operate independently without extensive industry training.

This role is especially well suited for a Purchasing Agent or Senior Purchasing Agent ready to take the next step into management. As the Kansas City market continues to expand, there is significant opportunity for long-term career growth and increased responsibility.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and manage purchasing activities for residential construction operations
  • Manage the full purchase order process, from pricing and ordering through delivery and issue resolution
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and availability to support cost-effective construction
  • Monitor purchasing activity to ensure materials and services are available when needed
  • Partner closely with Construction, Operations, and other internal teams
  • Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, costs, and efficiencies
  • Help establish and maintain purchasing standards as the Kansas City market grows
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to purchasing team members as the function expands

What We're Looking For

  • Residential construction purchasing experience is required
  • Strong understanding of purchase orders and the actual purchasing process
  • Proven ability to manage purchasing responsibilities independently
  • Experience working with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment
